Shirley and her daughter, Sara, Dianna, Lisyli, and Solenkore (Robin Deeming) moved from Rising Moon Women's Land to live at Mel's for some months. Dianna's book "Wild Mares: My Lesbian Back-to-the-Land Life" documents her experience at Rising Moon, Mel's, Place, Del Lago. Before Christmas, Dianna, Shirley, Sara, and her friend Kathy McConnell went to town in Aitkin, Minnesota to see Santa. Sometimes, when the county's lesbians came to town, some people would cross the street to avoid them. I love Santa's expression in this photo, especially his eye.
