River's Strength, Osseo, Minnesota 1978
Deborah Brady, known as River, was one of the original women who survived the fire at Rising Moon on New Year's Eve, 1973. After the fire, she and a friend lived in a three sided barn on the property. They used hay bales to block the fourth side and a wood stove for heat. They set a manual wind up clock to ring every two hours so that they could stoke the fire and do push ups to stay warm.
